    Will the Brandy Alexander Pie freeze?

    From the nigella team:

    Nigella's Brandy Alexander Pie (on Nigella.com) is a pie with a cookie crumb base and a filling made from melted marshmallows, milk, brandy, creme de cacao and whipped cream.We would not make the pie in advance, freeze the pie and then thaw it. Unfortunately when the pie thaws the gelatin can change structure and this will cause the filling of the pie to separate into a thick layer plus a thinner, more watery layer.

    We however mention that this recipe is adapted from one submitted to the website by ddlectibles and that recipe suggests freezing the pie for 2 hours. You could try freezing the pie for this time but the pie needs to be served frozen. We would also mention that we haven't tried serving Nigella's pie from frozen so we cannot guarantee the results. We would prefer to just making the pie a day ahead and chill it thoroughly overnight.
