Can I make Nigella's Chcolate Pear Pudding a day before and then heat it in the oven the following evening for a dinner party? Thanks.

We would not recommend making Nigella's Chocolate Pear Pudding (from Nigella Express) a day ahead and reheating it for a dinner party as this will not eat as well as a pudding that is freshly made. The pudding is slightly gooey and soft when is is just made, but as it cools it will start to become firmer and denser. You will then need to refrigerate the pudding overnight (as the pears will not keep well out of the fridge) and this will cause the sponge to become denser still. When you reheat the pudding it will never quite regain it's original texture and could also dry out a little as it reheats.
The pudding is very quick to make and you could put the pears in the bottom of the dish and then have all of the cake ingredients in the food preocessor ready to go. Then just before you serve your starter, quickly blitz the cake batter and scrape it onto the pears. Put the pudding in the oven and take it out after half an hour (about the time you will be ready to serve your main course) then leave it in a warm place until you are ready to serve the dessert course. if your oven is occupied by the main course then bake the pudding 1 hour ahead of your anticipated serving time and then leave it in a cool place. When the main course comes out of the oven reduce the heat to very low (around 100c/200F) and put the pudding back in the oven to warm up for 10-15 minutes.
It is fine to reheat leftovers either in a microwave or in a low oven (cover the dish with foil). Make sure that leftovers are refrigerated as quickly as possible, and preferably within 2 hours of cooking.
