Christmas Pudding Variation

Asked by melissashaw. Answered on 26th September 2013

Full question

I have used Nigella's recipe for Christmas pudding several times and everybody loves it. My father-in-law said he would love it even more if it had nuts in, but I'm not sure what quantities to use and how this would affect the existing quantities of the pudding ingredients. Please can you help?

Our answer

Nigella's Ultimate Christmas Pudding (from Nigella Christmas and on the Nigella website) is a popular recipe and it is possible to add chopped nuts to the ingredients, though not ground nuts. Chopped nuts will not affect the quantities of the other ingredients in the recipe.

We have tried a version of this pudding with chopped pecan nuts. We suggest trying 150g pecan halves (1 1/4 cups), roughly chopped. Walnuts would be another good option. You don't need to soak the nuts in advance, just add them when you mix all of the ingredients. The pudding should be cooked, stored and reheated as per the recipe.
