  • Easter Egg Pavlova

I am going to make your Easter Egg Nest cake. I know it will be a hit with the adults. However, my children, (oddly enough) do not like chocolate desserts. Do you think your pavlova would work with the candy-coated mini easter eggs? Would it just be too sweet? I usually top the pavlova with whipped cream and bananas, as this is my kids' favorite version.

    From the nigella team:

Nigella's Prodigious Pavlova (from Feast) and Christmas Pavlova (from Domestic Goddess) both have a plain meringue base with a slightly sharp fruit topping as the fruits cut some of the sweetness of the meringue. However we suspect that children would be very happy to have some mini eggs on the pavlova. You mention that your children like bananas on the top and perhaps you could add both bananas and eggs for Easter.

We would mention that the colouring on the candy coating of the eggs does tend to bleed once the eggs come into contact with moist ingredients, so only add the eggs just before serving the pavlova. For adults you could also try Nigella's Cappucino Pavlova with some small dark or milk chocolate eggs on top of the whipped cream.
