Full question
Hi, could you please tell me where does Nigella get the pasta and saffron used in Nigellissima from ? Thank you.
Can you tell me where Nigella gets her empty ice cream tubs and tops from please? Thanks, Blackdog.
Our answer
Nigella buys ingredients from many sources, including supermarkets, delis and on-line. So we would not recommend a particular store but would suggest that you buy the best quality that you can afford. Fregola (used in the Sardinian Cous Cous With Clams) is probably the hardest to find but you should be able to buy it in good Italian delis and also in the UK on-line from Nife Is Life.
Nigella stores the One-Step No-Churn Coffee Ice Cream (from Nigellissima and on the Nigella website) in cardboard containers. These contaoners are usually described as "soup cups" are are available on the internet. Unfortunately they are usually sold to catering companies so are sold in quite large bundles, but you can store them if you have space, or perhaps share an order with a friend who may be looking for the same item. The size used by Nigella is the 16-ounce cup, which holds 500ml/2 cups of ice cream (the amount made in the recipe). Also note that when ordering most websites sell the cups and lids separately so make sure that you check and order both if necessary.
