Freezing Breakfast Bars

Asked by laurarice26. Answered on 9th November 2014

Full question

Will the Breakfast Bars freeze well? I can't wait to make them. Thanks!

Our answer

Nigella's Breakfast Bars (from Nigella Express and on the Nigella website) are a type of granola bar that uses condensed milk to sweeten and bind the mixture. The bars will keep in an airtight container in a cool place for up to a week.

The bars should freeze quite well. We would suggest perhaps wrapping them individually in clingfilm (plastic wrap) so that you can take them out as required. Wrap each bar tightly then put them in a resealable container and freeze for up to 3 months. If you don't want to wrap the bars individually then stack them in a resealable container with baking parchment (parchment paper) in between each layer. To thaw the bars, remove them from the container (and any wrapping) and leave at room temperature for 1-2 hours.
