Liqueur in Irish Cream Tiramisu

Asked by Xhanise. Answered on 24th August 2015

Full question

Hi, I would like to make the Irish Cream Tiramisu but I only have 200ml of Baileys. If I add only 200ml instead of 250ml of Baileys, will there be a lot of difference in taste?

Our answer

Nigella's Irish Cream Tiramisu (from Nigella Express and on the Nigella website) uses Bailey's Irish Cream Liqueur as a flavouring rather than the more traditional Marsala wine. If you have slightly less then the required 250ml (1 cup) then it is still possible to make the dessert.

We would suggest that you use just 125ml (1/2 cup) of Baileys in the biscuit-soakling liquid (instead of 175ml/3/4 cup) and increase the amount of coffee used to 400ml (1 2/3 cups) so that you still have enough liquid in total. The remaining 75ml (1/4 cup) should be used in the mascarpone mixture, as instructed in the recipe.
