To Tickle Your Tastebuds - A Hint Of SIMPLY NIGELLA

Posted by Nigella on the 20th March 2015

First, an apology. I have been absent from this page for far, far too long. I have been so busy with Simply Nigella that everything else has rather fallen by the wayside. And while absorption in my new book is intensely pleasurable (and necessary) for me, I do miss chatting to you here. So, I thought I'd give you some highlights from the week's recipe-testing.

On the savoury front, I'm very happy with a rich lamb stew, below, which I cooked for supper for 10, to great success! And I'm still tinkering with this Ayam Masak Merah - a Malaysian Red-Cooked Chicken. The picture below was taken mid-cooking, so it is much more liquid than the finished dish. I know it is not "red" enough, so I'll attempt a new batch next week with more chilli!

All is sweetness and light (well, not that light!) on the dessert front. I'm very happy with my (simplified) version of the Brooklyn pie shop, Four&Twenty Blackbirds' Salty Honey Pie, which got eaten in record time, and the same (I must confess) goes with a new Banana Bread (essential flavourings to remain Top Secret until the book comes out) and a dark and squidgy Chocolate Cake, which you can see in all its glory below.

Anyway, back to the kitchen now for more testing. I'm getting very excited about Simply Nigella, which we start shooting Monday 23rd March for publication (in the UK, and I'm not sure about all other territories yet) in the Autumn...
