METHOD

1.Preheat the oven to 200°C/gas mark 6 and grease a 22cm square ovenproof dish with butter.
2.Drain the pears and arrange them on the base of the dish.
3.Put all the remaining ingredients in a food processor and blitz until you have a batter with a soft dropping consistency.
4.Spread the brown batter over the pears, and bake in the oven for 30 minutes.
5.Let stand out of the oven for 5 or 10 minutes and then cut into slabs – I cut 2 down and 2 across to make 9 slices – and serve with chocolate sauce.

One of my favourite puddings ever...I always have to make sure I have tinned pears in the cupboard in case a craving strikes! I usually add a little milk or juice from the pear can to the batter.

I saw it, I bought the ingredients, I made it The family ate it: It was delicious!

Very lovely results but if I did it again, I'd consider using more pears than what is specified - they were gorgeous and juicy! :) Good recipe, would recommend.

This was fantastic. All at home enjoyed this. Really delicious!

Delicious! I made the batter in the afternoon and kept it in the fridge, so that after the dinner I could simply spread it over the pears and put it in the oven. This way I didn't have to leave my guest alone while I was making the cake. I made the Chocolate sauce simply with some bitter chocolate cubes, some butter and some milk, on a low fire in a small pan. It all turned out great!

I found this a really light pudding, unexpectedly, however did feel that the pear taste didn't really do it justice, have since tried it with cherries on the base, WOW!!

After making this the first time, I went out and bought 10 cans of pears! I now make sure I always have all the ingredients in the house for those days I crave a sweet fix. Absolutely delish!

I made this yesterday in front of my guests and they were amazed at how I could make a dessert so quickly and easily (It was so easy to memorize the quantities..so didn't have to actually write it down)!! It turned out gr8!!!

I watched Nigella making this in a repeat on TV last week and as my bananas were thrown away by my sister decided to make this. It went down a storm with my 3 little cousins and I like the fact that there is fruit included! Simple & easy to make.

I love the combination of chocolate and pears, so this pudding is heaven. It's also perfect for a stress-free dessert when entertaining. I also make sure that I always have the ingredients on hand to make this pudding.

Awesome Awesome made this yesterday and loved it.I did however double up on dry ingredients as well as the pears simply amazing it was finished within 15mins lol

Cubis

Exquisite. Perfect. Heavenly. Obey the orders exactly and don't be tempted to add milk to loosen the batter - it is just perfect the way it is, a kind of quick steamed pudding with a self-saucing bottom. Being weened on tins pears and cream, this is my idea of idyllic nursery food and provokes a taste memory I had forgotten all about :)

This is truely a little bit of heaven. Thank you Nigella. Another winner.
