I'm all for quick and easy cooking and it's even better when it tastes really good too! This recipe should really be made in double because everyone always asks for more.

Ingredients
Switch to Cup Measures- 1 tin giant white asparagus
- 1 slice ham (per asparagus)
- 30 grams butter
- 30 grams flour
- 300 ml milk (cream if you want to be indulgent)
- Cheddar cheese (grated)
- salt to taste
- 1 cayenne pepper
- pepper to taste
Method
First make the white sauce:
- Melt the butter and add the flour to form a paste, then add the milk little by little. (You may decide not to use all the milk as the sauce should be quite thick)
- Stir for a few minutes on moderate temperature until thick and add the cheese. Once the cheese has melted, take it off the heat and put to one side.
- Roll each Asparagus spear in a ham slice and pack flat in an ovenproof dish. Cover well with cheese sauce and sprinkle with Cayenne Pepper.
- Bake in pre-heated oven at 180ºC/gas mark 4 for about 20 mins or until golden brown. Serve immediately.
