This is my favourite salty tea cake - kind of, we don't have tea in Hungary, but I always make this if I'm expecting guests. Easy and you can eat them a week later as well - that is if there's any left.

Ingredients

Serves: 1

Metric Cups
  • 400 grams flour
  • 250 grams butter (or margarine)
  • 1 egg
  • 100 grams sour cream
  • 80 grams cheese (semi hard)
  • 25 millilitres poppy seeds
  • 6 grams baking powder
  • sesame seeds
  • 14 ounces flour
  • 9 ounces butter (or margarine)
  • 1 egg
  • 4 ounces sour cream
  • 3 ounces cheese (semi hard)
  • ⅞ fluid ounce poppy seeds
  • ounce baking powder
  • sesame seeds

Method

Cheese Sticks With Sesame Seed is a community recipe submitted by mara2 and has not been tested by Nigella.com so we are not able to answer questions regarding this recipe.

  • Crumb the flour with the margarine, then add the egg yolk and the other ingredients except for the sesame seed and knead it.
  • Pin it out 1/2 cm thick and spread the beaten egg white on the top and then the sesame seed.
  • Then make sticks about 1cm X 4cm and put the sticks in a baking pan with baking paper.
  • Bake until they are golden.
