What does this mean?

This is a really simple muesli slice I made the other day here where I am staying, using the ingredients they had on hand. It makes quite a few, not quite to feed an army but anyway you can chop and change the ingredients and adapt the flavour.

Ingredients

Switch to Cup Measures
  • 250 ml rolled oats
  • 250 ml plain flour
  • 50 grams butter
  • 250 ml golden syrup
  • 250 grams sultanas and raisins
  • 250 grams glace cherries and dried apricot
  • 250 grams chocolate chips
  • 2 medium bay leaves
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon chopped nuts

Method

  1. First mix the dry ingredients, the flour, fruit and oats. Then melt the butter and golden syrup together in a pan. 
  2. Add this to the dry ingredients and mix well. Then add in the beaten eggs, chopped nuts and spices. 
  3. Pour the mixture into a lined square tin. Bake for 20 mins.
  4. After it's cooked, melt the chocolate over a bain marie and then drizzle this all over the cake in the tin. Transfer to fridge to set. Then slice or break however.
