Sesame seed paste

Ingredients

Serves: 6

  • 4 cups white sesame seeds
  • ½ cup vegetable oil

Method

Homemade Tahini is a community recipe submitted by Jen and has not been tested by Nigella.com so we are not able to answer questions regarding this recipe.

  • Preheat oven to 180ºC
  • Spread sesame seeds on a shallow baking tray and bake shaking frequently until fragrant (about 8-10 min) do not let them brown. Cool.
  • Put sesame seeds into a food processor fitted with the metal blade. Add vegetable oil and process to a smooth paste (about 5 mins)
  • Add more oil if needed to bring the tahini to a thick pouring consistency.
  • Should keep stored in a tightly covered jar in the fridge for several months. (I've never kept it this long as it is gobbled up) Makes 3 cups Easy and fun to make.. Jen :)
