Ingredients

Serves: 4-6

Metric Cups
  • 900 grams stewing steak
  • 2 large onions (chopped)
  • 1 tablespoon curry powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 tablespoon dark brown muscovado sugar
  • 40 grams plain flour
  • 450 millilitres beef stock
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 1½ tablespoons horseradish sauce
  • chopped fresh parsley (to serve)
  • 31¾ ounces beef stew meat
  • 2 large onions (chopped)
  • 1 tablespoon curry powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 tablespoon dark brown sugar
  • 1⅖ ounces all-purpose flour
  • 16 fluid ounces beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 1½ tablespoons horseradish sauce
  • chopped fresh parsley (to serve)

Method

Horseradish Beef is a community recipe submitted by Han71 and has not been tested by Nigella.com so we are not able to answer questions regarding this recipe.

  • Cut the meat into large cubes and brown in a little oil in a large casserole.
  • Add the chopped onions and cook until softened. Then add the ginger, curry, sugar and flour and cook for a few minutes stirring regularly.
  • Then stir in the stock and Worcestershire sauce and bring to the boil. Cover the casserole and simmer for 5 mins.
  • Put in a pre-heated oven at 150c for 3-4 hours until the meat is tender.
  • Stir in the Horseradish cream and sprinkle with parsley and serve with rice or mashed potatoes.
