MARBLED BROWNIES

This is a splendid recipe for all those who wish to add a twist to the same old chocolate recipes.

Ingredients

  • Vegetarian
  • Butter - 100g
  • Cocoa - 35g
  • Eggs - 2
  • Castor Sugar - 150g
  • Self Raising Flour - 60g

FOR THE MARBLING

  • Cream cheese - 180g
  • Egg - 1
  • Castor Sugar - 50g
  • Self Raising Flour - 30g
  • Vanilla Essence

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 180 C.
  2. Melt the butter in a saucepan. Stir in cocoa to form a smooth paste. Remove from heat and set aside to cool.
  3. Beat eggs until light and fluffy in a bowl. Gradually add the sugar and stir in the cocoa mixture. Sift in the flour and gently fold into the mixture.

MARBLING

  1. Beat cream cheese, egg and sugar together.
  2. Sift the flour and fold into the cream cheese mixture. Add essence.
  3. Pour about 3/4 of the brown mixture into a square cake tin. Spread the cream cheese mixture over the brown mixture and drop spoonfuls of the remaining brown mixture on the top and make swirling effects with the tip of a knife for a marbled effect.
  4. Bake in the oven for 35-40 minutes. Remove and allow to cool for 10 minutes before cutting.
