Mulberry Sauce

This is really divine...one of my aunts came up with this recipe...and I felt everyone should know about this.

Ingredients

Serves: 6

Metric Cups
  • ½ kilogram mulberries (or as much as you want, ripe)
  • sugar (equal amounts sugar and water - enough to make a sauce and depending on the amount of mulberries you use)
  • water (equal amounts sugar and water - enough to make a sauce and depending on the amount of mulberries you use)
  • 1⅛ pounds mulberries (or as much as you want, ripe)

Method

Mulberry Sauce is a community recipe submitted by chaitanya and has not been tested by Nigella.com so we are not able to answer questions regarding this recipe.

  • put the mulberries in a colander and run some water over them for a minute.
  • spread the mulberries on a paper towel to dry them.
  • in a large saucepan heat the water and sugar till all the sugar is dissolved, bring to boil.
  • when the sugar solution is boiling add the mulberries to it, make sure the sugar solution has reached the syrupy state before you add the mulberries or they'll become soggy.
  • boil for another minute or two till it becomes slightly thick, by now the syrup will be a lovely shade of purple. Take it off the heat and let it cool.
  • after it cools completely pour into an airtight container and stash in the freezer. 7. Serve it with good vanilla ice-cream....smooth ice-cream with crunchy mulberries in the sauce. Yummmyyyy....
