What does this mean?

This is an old recipe from my Mother who is from the Punjab in India. Although I do not think it is exclusive to this region it is very popular and very easy to make.

Ingredients

Switch to Cup Measures
  • 2 kilograms chicken (skinless and boneless)
  • 100 grams fresh root ginger
  • 8 cloves garlic
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 onion (finely chopped)
  • 1 green chilli (to taste)
  • 2 teaspoons garam masala
  • 500 grams plain yoghurt
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon curry powder

Method

  1. Mix ingredients, but not chicken together into a paste
  2. Marinade chicken over night
  3. Place in 180 c oven for 1.5 hours covered with foil for first half hour.
  4. Turn chicken and spoon mixture on top. Check chicken is properly cooked.(Obviously!)
  5. Serve with Naan and rice
