Ingredients

Switch to Cup Measures
  • 300 grams chicken pieces (bite sized)
  • 2 star anise
  • 3 cm cinnamon sticks
  • 2 cardamom pods
  • 4 shallots (sliced)
  • 2 cloves garlic (chopped)
  • 2 cm fresh root ginger (sliced)
  • 1 carrot (wedged)
  • 1 potato (wedged)
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • salt (to taste)
  • spring onions (for garnishing)
  • gram celery (for garnishing)

Method

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a pot. Fry spices and add in shallots, garlic and ginger until fragrant.
  2. Add chicken meat and stir.
  3. Put water, carrot and potato and simmer until chicken carrot and potato tender
  4. Add chicken cubes and salt to taste
  5. Serve hot and sprinkle with chopped spring onion and celery
