Ingredients

Metric Cups
  • oil (for deep-frying)
  • filo pastry (3 layers, can be bought in the supermarket freezer or fridge section ready-made)
  • 55 grams butter (melted)
  • 55 grams hazelnuts
  • 1 apple (grated)
  • 1 pinch of ground cinnamon
  • 1 pinch of ground ginger
  • oil (for deep-frying)
  • filo pastry (3 layers, can be bought in the supermarket freezer or fridge section ready-made)
  • 2 ounces butter (melted)
  • 2 ounces hazelnuts
  • 1 apple (grated)
  • 1 pinch of ground cinnamon
  • 1 pinch of ground ginger

Method

Spiced Apple Samosas is a community recipe submitted by joloaded and has not been tested by Nigella.com so we are not able to answer questions regarding this recipe.

  • Heat deep fat fryer to 190degrees/375F or fill large pan a 1/3 full with vegetable oil. Careful with the hot oil!
  • Brush the pastry layers with the butter (both sides, a bit messy I know but samosas will stick in frying pan otherwise).
  • Put the pastry layers on top of each other and cut length ways into 2 strips.
  • Blend nuts in food processor add the apple and spices and mix.
  • Put spoonful of mix in one corner of pastry and fold into triangle shapes. Repeat with 2nd strip of pastry.
  • Deep fry for 2-3 mins until golden and drain on kitchen paper. Serve!
