Introduction

This dish was an experiment with culinary trinkets I bought in one of my favorite specialty stores, and I was very pleased it. The name will make sense when you taste it: there is a lingering, earthy nuttiness to the flavor.

  • Prepare the marinade by mixing all ingredients, save for one spring onion, and pour this over the chicken cubes. Let this stand for a while for the flavors to develop.
  • When they are ready to be cooked, heat some oil in a pan, and when hot, add that remaining chopped spring onion, followed by the chicken and its marinade.
  • It won't be exactly frying in the marinade, but you need it to produce juicy, succulent chicken, so give it a good stir now and again, until the chicken is tender.
  • Serve with a garnish of your choice.

  • Additional Information

If you have regular soy sauce, I would suggest adding some honey for sweetness, and adjusting the amount of salt accordingly, since regular soy sauce is salty enough, while sweet soy sauce is not.
