What does this mean?

A favourite family side dish for Autumn and Winter. Even my girls love it.

Ingredients

  • 5 yams (large)
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 can crushed and drained pineapples
  • 1 stick unsalted butter
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 4 handfuls slightly crushed cornflakes

Method

  1. Cook yams, in their skins, until soft.
  2. Remove skins, and mash.
  3. Add nutmeg and salt.
  4. In a saucepan, slowly melt butter and brown sugar.
  5. Remove just under half of this mixture and stir into yams.
  6. Place in a casserole dish.
  7. To the rest of the butter/brown sugar mixture, add cornflakes.
  8. Stir together and drop on top of yams, smoothing to cover entirely.
  9. Bake 350 about 20-30 minutes.
