Keeping Chocolate Salame

Asked by virgincaz. Answered on 10th June 2015

Full question

How long will Nigella's Chocolate Salame keep in the fridge for? I made a large amount and I'd hate it to go to waste. Thanks.

Our answer

Nigella's Chocolate Salame (from Nigellissima and on the Nigella website) is a mixture of chocolate, butter and eggs with the addition of crushed amaretti cookies and chopped nuts. As the mixture contains raw eggs it must be kept in the fridge and will last up to 4 days from the day of making.

The salame can also be frozen on the day of making. Wrap the salame tightly in foil and freeze for up to a month. Thaw overnight in the fridge before using and eat within 3 days. Please also note that as the salame contains raw eggs it may not be suitable for those with a vulnerable immune system, such as pregnant women.
