Our answer

Nigella's Chocolate Olive Oil Cake (from NIGELLISSIMA) can be made either with ground almonds (almond meal), as a gluten-free option, or with regular flour. For a dessert we would suggest making the cake with almonds as this version is slightly more luxurious. The cake will stay warm for an hour or so, once removed from the oven. So you could just leave it in a warm place if you don't have to make it too far in advance.

If you do want to make the cake earlier in the day and warm it before serving then we would suggest putting the cake, still in its pan, into an oven heated to 150°C/130°C Fan/300°F for 10-15 minutes. Let the cake stand out of the oven for 5 minutes before removing the outside of the springform pan. It would probably be a good idea to run a spatula around the inside edge of the pan to loosen the cake before unclipping the sides. As the cake is more fragile when warm, we suggest leaving it on the pan base for serving.
