Christmas Chocolate Cookies With Oats

Asked by Jennywo. Answered on 3rd February 2020

Full question

I made the Christmas Chocolate Cookies at Christmas and they were easy and delicious. Just wondering if I could add some rolled oats for some extra fibre and texture? If so, would I need to adjust the dry ingredients and by how much?

Our answer

Nigella's Christmas Chocolate Cookies (from NIGELLA CHRISTMAS) have a melt in the mouth texture and a rich chocolate flavour. Unfortunately we think that adding oats to the dough will change this texture too much so we would prefer not to make this switch.

If you would like to try a chocolate cookie with more fibre then we would suggest looking at Nigella's recipe for Triple Chocolate Buckwheat Cookies. Buckwheat has more fibre than plain flour and has a slightly smoky note that enhances the chocolate flavour. In addition, it is gluten-free and gives the cookies a crisp but melting texture.
