What Can I Use As An Alternative To Nuts For The Christmas Rocky Road?

Asked by Blugrl. Answered on 15th December 2022

Full question

I'm wondering if there is a no-nut alternative to the nut ingredient for the Christmas Rocky Road? I have a nut allergy and would love to make this, but can’t think what can be substituted.

Our answer

Nigella's Christmas Rocky Road (from NIGELLA CHRISTMAS) is a seasonal version of the Rocky Road Crunch Bars, using Christmassy ingredients such as amaretti cookies, brazil nuts and glace cherries.

If you need to avoid nuts then we would suggest leaving them out completely and just increasing the quantities of the other ingredients. We would suggest increasing the amaretti by 75g to 275g (for extra crunch), the cherries by 25g to 175g and the marshmallows by 50g to 175g, but you can change these proportions as you prefer, particularly if you like one ingredient more than the others.
