What Should I Serve With The Lemon Polenta Cake?

Asked by Yanny85. Answered on 3rd October 2017

Full question

I wanted to try the Lemon Polenta Cake as a dessert as I have family visiting. What can I put on the side? Maybe ice cream or whipped cream?

Our answer

Nigella's Lemon Polenta Cake (from KITCHEN) is a moist gluten-free cake that is good as a dessert, particularly if still slightly warm. Whipped cream or creme fraiche are always good accompaniments, though if the cake is slightly warm then vanilla ice cream could also be a welcome addition. Greek yogurt would be a slightly lighter option. As the inspiration for the cake came from Italy, you may also like to consider serving each slice with a spoonful of creamy mascarpone.

If you wished to make the cake part of a larger dessert plate then some segments of fresh orange would continue the citrus theme. Or for something sweeter try Nigella's Chilled Caramelised Oranges With Greek Yogurt.
