Chocolate Chestnut Cake

Asked by ananmor. Answered on 7th July 2012

Full question

I recently attempted the recipe for Chocolate Chestnut Cake, on page 297 of my copy of Feast, to find there has been what seems a printing error. The recipe calls for eggs, separated. However the preparation instructions in the book do not mention egg yolks or what should be done with them. The recipe doesn't seem to work without the yolks. Can you please confirm what the correct recipe is? Many thanks, Anabel Morales Noguás

Our answer

We apologize for the printing error which was corrected for later editions of Feast. The yolks are indeed added to the cake batter and they are beaten into the butter and chestnut puree mixture, before the rum is added (this is in the middle of step 3).

Below is a link to the full recipe which we hope will clarify the method.
