What does this mean?

This cake is perfect for morning or afternoon tea. It's light and moist and jolly easy to make. For best results, make sure the bananas are overripe. For me this cake is a great comfort food.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter (softened)
  • 3 medium bananas (overripe)
  • 1 cup walnuts (whole)
  • 2 medium eggs (beaten)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 1 cup superfine sugar
  • ¼ cup whole milk
  • 1 ½ cups self-raising flour

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 180ºC/360ºF and grease and line a large cake or loaf tin.
  2. Cream the butter, sugar and vanilla essence.
  3. Add the eggs, milk, bananas, walnuts and then self-raising flour, stirring after each ingredient.
  4. Pour the mixture into the tin and bake for about 45 minutes.
