What does this mean?

this is a moist and ultra light cake .here in cyprus it is made when people are awaiting good news, translated it is called an "apperance pie" it is made with 7 major ingredients each representing a symbol it is then made for 7 continuous weeks whether you recieve your good news or not . i just make it because i love it the great thing is it is suitable for vegans as its egg less

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cooking oil
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3 ½ cups self-raising flour
  • 3 ½ teaspoons baking powder

Method

  1. As long as you use the same size glass/mug/cup for this recipe the ingredients will be the correct amount
  2. 1st. oil and flour a 10 inch baking tin or a Pyrex dish Sieve the flour with b.p In a separate bowl beat together the oil and sugar then add the water , orange juice ,the cinnamon, then the sieved flour .
  3. Pour the mixture into the prepared tin/dish bake for 40-50 minutes in a medium preheated oven .
  4. You will know if its ready by the golden brown colour also test it by inserting a toothpick -if it comes out dry its ready......easy as that!
