What does this mean?

A tasty steak dish with a thick, rich gravy sauce.

Ingredients

  • 2 rump steak (or topside steaks)
  • minced garlic
  • cracked black pepper
  • 1 onion (sliced into thin strips)
  • 9 oz thinly sliced, button mushrooms
  • 2 cups grated cheese
  • light chicken gravox
  • port

Method

  1. Put each steak between 2 sheets of baking paper and using a mallet, hit until steak is very thin. Cut steaks into two.
  2. Spread some crushed garlic onto the each steak and sprinkle with pepper. Top with onion, mushrooms & cheese.
  3. Roll the steaks and secure with toothpicks.
  4. Place rolled steaks into a baking dish and top with remaining onion, mushrooms and cheese. Bake in a 180 degree oven for 30 minutes. Turn over and bake for another 15-20 minutes or until cooked through. Remove from the oven. Remove the steaks from the baking dish and cover with foil.

Making the gravy:

  1. Put the baking dish on the stove top and add 2-3 tbsp of chicken gravox and stir with a fork.
  2. Add a good splash of port and water until desired consistency is achieved.
  3. Pour gravy over the rolled steak and serve with hot vegetables. Tip: Delicious with crispy potatoes
