Ingredients

Metric Cups
  • 100 grams butter
  • 100 grams light brown muscovado sugar
  • 1 tablespoon golden syrup
  • 150 grams self-raising flour
  • 85 grams smarties
  • 4 ounces butter
  • 4 ounces light brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon golden syrup or light corn syrup
  • 5 ounces self-rising flour
  • 3 ounces smarties

Method

  • Preheat oven to 180c.
  • Cream butter and sugar in a bowl until creamy.
  • Beat in syrup, Work in half the flour, Stir in smarties with the remaining flour and work the dough between your fingers,
  • Divide into 14 balls, Place them, well spaced apart, on two baking sheets. Do not flatten them.
  • Bake for 12 mins., until pale and golden on the edges. Cool on a wire rack.
