TERIYAKI SAUCE

I would remind you that Aussie tablespoons are 20ml not 15ml, so perhaps use heaped tablespoons, or add two more teaspoons worth of the sugar and sake:) It would be well to do that with this recipe as it's a significant part of the recipe:) *MY suggestion, if at all possible choose a good quality Japanese soy or tamari for this:)

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup soy sauce*
  • ¼ cup mirin (sweet rice wine)
  • 2 TBSP sugar
  • 2 TBSP sake (optional)

Method

  1. Combine sauce ingredients in a small saucepan and stir well to combine.
  2. Set saucepan over a medium heat, bring to a simmer and cook 2-3 minutes until sugar has dissolved and sauce has thickened slightly.
  3. Remove from heat and cool.
