I couldn't find vegetable shortening anywhere where we live, so i used coconut butter instead. The smell coming out of the oven is amazing, and funny enough you don't taste the coconut. For the pastry I used wholewheat flour and a vanilla pod. For me these scrumptious cookies go perfectly with a cup of strong black coffee. Something I've looked forward to the past couple of mornings and to be honest, the afternoon and in between.
