Having made scones a number of times, the process was pretty straight forward! My kids are the best critics and they absolutely adored the end result (thanks Nigella!) I sprinkled vanilla sugar on top of the scones after having brushed with the egg white. I also sprinkled them lightly with icing sugar but only lightly as I didn't want to make them too sweet!
