My daughter and I followed the cookie recipe pretty closely. Most cookies were formed using cookie cutters, but the cat and fish were hand-formed in honor of our sweet kitty Tino, who passed away unexpectedly on cookie making day. These cookies smelled just like Christmas while baking. I used my traditional cutout icing for the cookies, a blend of confectioners' sugar, light corn syrup, milk, food coloring, and vanilla extract. My husband enjoys them with a cup of black coffee.
