Title: Time Stops with Tea and a Good Cake I find it hard to follow recipes down to the t so I used self-raising flour in this one, hence the chunky look! I love the contrast between the light chocolatey sponge, sweet dense buttercream and crunchy salty peanuts on top. I arranged the items on the table as if I would be waiting for a long lost friend to come over. To me if the cakes on the tablecloth, a stopped old clock and some sturdy mugs of tea could speak they'd say: you're welcome old friend, we've got lots of time and the right ingredients to heal your soul and make you whole again. So as that's the kind of afternoon tea invitation I'd like to receive (but won't during lockdown) it occurred to me that I have appeared to have invited myself to tea in a lockdown ritual from a bygone era!
