What a pleasure it was to make this cake, and I am normally not into baking! The buttercream is the star for me here, it screams sheer homemade indulgence. But what I liked most was applying it on the cakes with big brush strokes, like contemporary Van Gogh, so much reminding me of my grandmother's homemade cakes back in the day. Small personal addition to the recipe: I did sprinkle the baked cakes with few drops of whiskey, just to highlight the flavours. Well, it's Christmas!
