Honey Apple Tart

This was my Granny's favourite and I make it to remind me of her, it is truly delicious.


Serves: 6 - 8

For the Tart

  • 250 margarine (or butter)
  • 250 superfine sugar
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • 500 self-raising flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 250 milk
  • 1 tin canned apples

For the Honey Syrup

  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 4 tablespoons honey


Honey Apple Tart is a community recipe submitted by Community and has not been tested by so we are not able to answer questions regarding this recipe.

  • Cream butter and sugar and add the beaten egg.
  • Sift flour, baking powder and salt and add it alternately with the milk to the butter mixture.
  • Pour the apple slices on the bottom of the dish and cover with the batter.
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for approximately 45 – 55 minutes.
  • To prepare the syrup,

  • melt the butter and honey and mix well.
  • When the tart is done prick all over with a skewer and pour the hot syrup over the hot tart.
  • Serve hot with cream, ideal milk or custard.
