Chocolate Brownie Cake

Introduction

My mom taught me this recipe, it is dedicated to you mommy, the best mom ever !!!! I love you xx

Ingredients

Serves: 8-10

  • 500 flour
  • 120 margarine
  • 250 water
  • 125 vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 375 sugar
  • 125 buttermilk
  • 4 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa
  • 2 medium eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 pinch of salt

Method

  • Sift the flour and sugar into a bowl.
  • Boil margarine, water, oil, buttermilk and salt in a heavy-based pot.
  • Mix everything together.
  • Bake in a pan for 25-30 mins at 180 degrees Celsius.
  • Icing

  • Melt 2 tablespoons margarine, 2 1/2 tablespoons buttermilk, 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa and 3/4 cup icing sugar.
  • Melt 10 squares chocolate and mix all together.
  • Spread over a hot cake and Enjoy xx

    This cake can be made square, rectangle or round or whatever shape you want !!! (I have only tried rectangle and round)

    • I started putting this cake together thinking that it was a recipe tested by Nigella. When I added the sugar to the flour-I thought it was a bit strange but I continued. When it came time to actually boil the fat- I was lost. I checked the recipe and realized that it was from a complete stranger-but I was committed. Turned out to be moist, flavourful and absolutely delicious!! Thank you sooooo much as this is now my go to chocolate cake!!!!
