Ingredients

Serves: 4-5

Metric Cups

For the for the Tikia

  • 200 grams cottage cheese
  • 4 tablespoons groundnut oil
  • 1 onion (finely chopped)
  • 1½ centimetres fresh ginger
  • 2 green chillies
  • 4 tablespoons fresh coriander (finely chopped)
  • 2 teaspoons garam masala
  • 1 pinch of salt (to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon caster sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice

For the Chutney

  • ½ teaspoon black salt
  • 1 handful pinenuts
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 50 millilitres Greek yoghurt
  • 1 handful fresh coriander
  • 1 handful fresh mint
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • ½ centimetre fresh ginger

For the for the Tikia

  • 7 ounces cottage cheese
  • 4 tablespoons peanut oil
  • 1 onion (finely chopped)
  • ⅗ inch fresh gingerroot
  • 2 green chiles
  • 4 tablespoons cilantro (finely chopped)
  • 2 teaspoons garam masala
  • 1 pinch of salt (to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon superfine sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice

For the Chutney

  • ½ teaspoon black salt
  • 1 handful pinenuts
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1¾ fluid ounces Greek yoghurt
  • 1 handful cilantro
  • 1 handful fresh mint
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • ⅕ inch fresh gingerroot

Method

Cottage Cheese Snackies is a community recipe submitted by tithi and has not been tested by Nigella.com so we are not able to answer questions regarding this recipe.

  • For the tikia dice the block of cottage cheese into rough chunks now add the cheese and all the ingredients for the 'tikia' except the onions into the processor and blend to have a soft paste. Now add the chopped onions to the paste and mix them well.
  • Take a small amount of the mixture and softly form little cakes. Now in a non stick pan heat oil over gentle flame, place these cakes on the oil and fry lightly till one side is scorched lightly turn it over and let the other side to take on the lovely golden brown colour. Place them on clean paper towels and squeeze lime juice.
  • For the chutney, put coriander,mint leaves ginger, pine nuts, lime juice, black salt, sugar and yogurt into the mixer and blend into a lovely green tangy chutney.
