Banana Bread Chocolate Version

Asked by PedW. Answered on 10th October 2014

Full question

When making the chocolate version of Nigella's Banana Bread, are the chocolate chips a substitute for the chopped walnuts or in addition to?

Our answer

Banana Bread is a perennial favourite and Nigella's recipe (from Domestic Goddess and on the Nigella website) has a suggestion for a chocolate variation, by replacing some of the flour with cocoa powder and adding some small chocolate chunks or chips.

Nigella's suggestion is to add the chocolate chunks as well as the chopped walnuts and the soaked sultanas. However if you feel that this is too much then you can certainly leave out the walnuts, or you could even switch the walnuts for pecan nuts, if you prefer.
