Excess Oil From Deep Frying

I've always wanted to deep fry potatoes, fish and other things but I have yet to find a safe yet efficient method of disposing of the extravagant amount of oil that results from deep frying. I have heard of oil bins but I probably will never have access to one and I have heard that you can reuse the oil but I really don't want to have the bother of getting another container to store it. Is there any other way?

If you are regularly deep fat frying then it makes both economic and ecological sense to re-use the oil a couple of times. The oil should be cooled completely then strained thopugh a fine sieve to remove any particles of food. It can then be stored back in its original container or in a clean and dry plastic container (a plastic milk bottle that has been thoroughly washed and dried would be a suggestion, though label it clearly).

If you wish to dispose of the oil then do not flush it into a domestic drain. It can cause blockages and not particularly good for the enviromnent. Instead once the oil has completely cooled return it to its bottle or a sealable container and place it in the household waste. Some areas offer an oil recycling option but these will generally be at specific recycling points (for households) so you would have to take the oil to the appropriate place to recyle it.
