How Long Can Bar Nuts Be Stored

Nigella's Bar Nuts (from NIGELLA BITES) are spiced and herbed nuts that are served warm. They are a perfect accompaniment to cocktails or a pre-dinner drink. Unfortunately it is difficult to make the nuts in advance as gifts as the butter will congeal as it cools and will not look particularly attractive. They will also not keep that long at room temperature.

If you would like to give the nuts as a gift then we suggest that you roast the nuts and cool them completely, then mix them with the rosemary, sugar, cayenne and salt. Transfer them to a bag or container. We suggest then giving instructions to store the nuts in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. When ready to use, melt a tablespoon of butter in a large frying pan over a medium heat, add the spiced nuts (and any mixture in the bottom of the bag) and stir over a medium heat for 3-5 minutes, until the nuts are warmed through.
