I just finished making the Sweet Potato Macaroni Cheese for my children and it was way more delicious than I anticipated. Do you think I could use half sweet potato and half butternut squash next time? Would it be just as tasty?
Sweet potatoes and butternut squash are similar in colour and they both have a naturally sweet flavour. Sometimes butternut squash can be a little bland if it is boiled, but it should be possible to use half butternut squash and half sweet potatoes in the sauce if you wanted to try it. However the boiling times will be different for the two vegetables and the butternut squash could take a little longer to cook. So we would suggest that you use the same saucepan of boiling salted water but cook the two vegetables separately, until each is tender.
