I have been a perrenial provider within my family of Nigella's star topped mince pies for many years. However this festive season I was lured away from my usual custom by the ruby red of Nigella's linzer cookies. Although I couldn't completely depart from the star motif, I decided to give them a festive touch by replacing some of the shapes with letters spelling out Noël. However I realised at a crucial moment I had mislaid two of the letter cutters required. Considering the two remaining letters I possessed were an N and an L. I thought it appropriate to pay tribute to the architect of this recipe, abeit in a rather festive monogrammed fashion. A joyous recipe from start to finish, I'm feeling very festive and have found the mince pie some company within the Christmas biscuit tin moving forward.
