My son Robin was born in 2004, the year Feast was published. Nigella’s ‘Old Fashioned Chocolate Cake’ from the chocolate cake hall of fame has been his favourite and only birthday cake recipe (save the year we were snowed in and had to look up birthday cake recipes with no eggs!) since he could talk. The page in Feast is mucky, covered in egg and chocolate splashes and scribbles where I have worked out quantities for making larger versions of the cake. It’s a constant in our lives. His Dad died on October 7th last after a short illness, 3 months to the day before Robin turned 22. The 3 little piggies on top were his Dad’s as a child. Always love Nigella, thank you!!
