I was tempted to choose a photo of one of this month’s more “sophisticated” dishes, but in the end I picked the one that felt most from the heart (pun intended). Cooking and baking are, after all, about love and joy. I made these with my five-year-old niece, who was uncontrollably excited about the sprinkles - though deeply disappointed we couldn’t give Valentine’s cookies to the cats. Perhaps Nigella will include a pet-friendly section in her next book so we can share the love.
