My 11 year old daughter Rosalie, absolutely loves Nigella (which exactly what I felt when I grew up watching Nigella as a young girl. In my twenties I wrote to Nigella to thank her for helping me to work through my disordered eating. I was so thrilled when Nigella wrote back. I’m now 40 with two little ones, including Rosalie and my 8 (soon to be 9) year old son, Gabriel. In our home, we regularly cook and bake using my collection of Nigella books. Rosalie makes Nigella’s American Pancakes multiple times a week, and her other favourites include the amazing chocolate cakes. This is a heart-shaped version of the Old-Fashioned Chocolate Cake from Feast. Rosalie was super-inspired by the heart shaped raspberry cake to make the Old-Fashioned Chocolate Cake in this shape. Rosalie was diagnosed with Autism last year and baking has become such an important part of her life. She baked with care and attentiveness to detail, also making a bit of mess (which she shared giggling) but she was super happy with the result and we’ve all enjoyed a slice as dessert.
