Round Eye in Deep Brown Sauce

Excellent main dish, easy to make - if you use a pressure cooker. Produces a rich deep brown sauce, slightly sweetened by the Malzbier.


Serves: 4

  • ⅞ rump steak
  • salt (to season the meat)
  • black pepper (to season the meat)
  • 1 can tomato sauce
  • 2 bottles malzbier (sweet low alcohol beer)
  • 4 tablespoons oil

  • In a pressure cooker, brown the seasoned round eye in the heated oil, on all sides, just to seal the meat.
  • Add the tomato sauce and the 2 bottles of Malzbier. Stir well until it starts to boil.
  • Seal the lid and cook for about 1h 15 min. Reserve the sauce.
  • With an electric knife, thinly slice the meat. Put the slices (try to maintain the original shape of the round eye by sliding it into the serving dish).
  • Pour the sauce over the meat.
  • Goes very well with mashed potatoes.
