Panettone Trifle

This is an Italian take on the trifle. The recipe is from Food Network's Gianda deLaurentis. Mascarpone is a bit expensive but I buy it when it's on sale and freeze it.


Serves: 6

  • ½ kilogram mascarpone cheese
  • 227 grams melted bittersweet chocolate (or semisweet)
  • 125 millilitres confectioners' sugar
  • gram instant espresso powder
  • gram coffee liqueur
  • 340 grams cubed panettone
  • chocolate shavings (for garnish)


Panettone Trifle is a community recipe submitted by Patrizia and has not been tested by so we are not able to answer questions regarding this recipe.

  • Using an electric mixer, beat the mascarpone cheese, melted chocolate, powdered sugar, and espresso powder in a large bowl until smooth and fluffy.
  • Divide half of the panettone cubes among 6 wine glasses or old-fashioned glasses.
  • Sprinkle half of the liqueur over the panettone. Top with half of the mascarpone mixture.
  • Repeat layering with the remaining panettone, liqueur, and mascarpone mixture.
  • Sprinkle the chocolate shavings over the trifles and serve immediately. (The trifles can be prepared 1 day ahead. Cover and refrigerate. Let come to room temperature before serving.)
